The Game Design Competition is open to all students aged 10 to 18 living in Morocco.
All students under 18 must have parental or guardian consent to participate in the competition and will need their support to complete the online submission form.
All students must adhere to the competition's directions and requirements in their entirety.
Students may be required to provide proof of enrollment, age, and parental or guardian permission.
Game Eligibility
Games must be playable on a web browser and accessible via a URL.
Games must be created by the participant and must be original work.
Submission Guidelines
Official participation in the Game Design Competition consists of the submission of the entry form through the competition portal starting June 1, 2024.
All entries must be submitted by 11:59 p.m. Morocco local time (GMT+1) on the advertised deadline date of the competition; otherwise, late entries will be regarded as ineligible.
Multiple submissions are allowed from the same participant.
For students under the age of 13, a parent or guardian must submit the entry form on the student's behalf and will be responsible for all subsequent communications with Al Fitya Institute.
Participants must have a valid email address. This is how Al Fitya Institute will communicate with them. A personal email address is highly recommended over a school-affiliated email address (school email addresses might not accept emails from an outside domain).
Participants have the option of submitting additional materials for the judges to review (ex: storyboard, essay, explanatory video, original artwork, etc.).
Al Fitya Institute will not be responsible for and will not consider incomplete or incorrect entries.
Al Fitya Institute is not responsible for entries that are sent to but not received by Al Fitya Institute for any reason.
Competition Structure
Each game submission will go through 2 rounds of judging. In the first round, finalists will be determined. In the second round, a winner for each category will be determined.
Judging Criteria
The scores for each game are determined by judging panel of educators, gaming industry experts and theme content experts using scoring rubrics.
Games will be evaluated based on the following judging criteria:
Use of Theme – Through gameplay, players engage with important content relevant to the theme.
Game Play – The rules of the game are clear, the game is playable and provides players meaningful choices while achieving the game's goals.
Aesthetics – The game is well-designed, legible, and includes components that are pleasing to look at.
Fun Factor – Playing the game is an enjoyable and engaging experience.
Results & Prizes
The final decisions regarding finalists and winners for each category are based on the judge's scores and determined by the Al Fitya Institute's staff.
Students will be notified of their standing in the competition via email.
Winners will be announced live during a virtual awards ceremony in October 2024, which all participants will be invited to.
Winners will receive technology, STEM and theme-related prizes.
Prizes will be awarded to the top performers in two categories: Junior (age 10-13) and Senior (age 14-18).
